Earlier I was thinking about roadtrips, I used to have a lot of fun, despite it taking a while to get where I was going but just to see the country and the scenery as I would go down the highway. I havent had a long roadtrip since like 2006 or so. Some of the trips I used to hate but whenI think back it was a nice drive. Heres a few of my favorite highways

The Virginia Beach via Eastern Shore route

This trip I did a few times over the years, there's really no fast and direct way to get from the northeast to Virginia beach. You get this nice toll highway in the top of Delaware and you think, eh this aint gunna take too long, and then BAM, midway thru the state it ends and your stuck on a local road the rest of the way. Once you get out of Delaware, the Maryland part goes pretty quick, the only major city you get a nice lil highway to go around it. The Virginia part is interesting, theres a train track paralelling the highway for most of the route, then theres a few towns and whatnot, the biggest things are a Perdue Chicken plant, and this place called Stuckeys which is like this place with a lot of trinkets and such. The biggest town I remember had a shopping center with a gas staton and a Wendys. Tho when im down south, I love a good Chicken sammich from Chick-Fil-A, we need to bring that place up north, it kicks KFC's ass hands down. Once you get to the Chessapeake bay bridge tunnel, thats when things get fun. Imagine this, a highway over the water with no land in sight for a while. Ive done it once at night, that was wiiiild stuff, total darkness except for the car lights, and the orange streetlights overhead, and the sounds of Queensryche playing over the radio. Good times :) Once you get to virginia beach its fun. Its one of my favorite cities in the country.

I-81 from Pennsylvania to Charlotte

This route is scenic if you like big mountains and trees and not much else. Southern PA smells terrible because of all the chicken and pig farms down there. The Maryland and West Virginia segments go by quick, but the Virginia part is like loooong and boring and not much around. At least the air smells a lot better. After a while you turn south to head towards Charlotte, that place is like the birthplace of Nascar, so like every other car has like stickers in the back of their favorite drivers, (personally I like the Toyota drivers cuz I have a Toyota and I think theyre biased against Toyota.) One year I remember staying in a hotel in Charlotte where the pool was in this big open area by the lobby and it was partially indoors and outdoors. The rest of North Carolina is fine, if you come from I-95 instead its a mess in this one area  cuz they have one highway with 4 or 5 different numbers and two route 85s and two route 40s. South Carolina like every other exit theres a fireworks shop, be sure to stock up on your way back. Then theres this one town with a giant peach but from the right angle it looks like a giant butt.

Connecticut and Boston

This trip can either be a great ride or the most frustrating thing you can do. Depending on the time of day. I like New England, the towns have this quaint feeling to em. Some of the highlights are the WWE Headquarters on I-95's Exit 8, and the various cities when the highway crosses over the New Haven line. Massachusetts is nice too, tho Boston can be a pain in the ass to drive in. Lotsa random one way streets and too many pedestrians. I had quite a time driving to one of my friend's houses up there. Probably woulda been a lot easier if it was in the daytime. That same route I go to other places in New England, its a nice ride.

Places Id like to visit someday:

California-Pacific Northwest
The Midwest
Alaska

I was on my way home from class today, I'm stopped at the stop sign and ready to go, and the car behind mine hit me from behind. Fortunately, there was no damage to either car since it was a low speed impact. The worst I got was slight whiplash. Everything went well, the police came and inspected both cars to make sure there was no damage, and I exchanged info with the other driver and then we both were on our way.

Which one of my two main characters do you see as the face/mascot of my art? When you think about me online which character comes in your mind, Jon Lupus (the light blue arctic fox) or Marie Renarde (the red fox vixen)?

I cant believe 2011 is here already, 2010 was a great year and it went by so fast.

I am very happy at the improvements I have made with my art last year. 2010 was the year that ended 2 years of a slow descent into mediocrity. Devi and Cassie were a big help in taking the time to help me improve anatomy, facial expressions, posing, and just plain old getting me to break out of my comfort zone and draw more interesting pictures.

I met so many new friends this year, many grew to be quite close to me <3

2010 was also a great year for photography, last hannukah I got me a Canon EOS Rebel XSi camera kit and it has helped me take better photos, well the camera is only part of the equation, by studying with some other subway train photographer freinds I was able to improve my techniques as well.

Academically it was a great year for me as well, having made deans list in the spring semester and doing quite well in the fall semester.

2011 I plan on continuing the great progress I have made in the past year, reaching ever higher in artwork, photography and all other aspects of my life. The best is yet to come for Marie Foxie, Jon Jon, Aurora, and Niki, my newest char.

Welp part one of Jon and the Magic Panties  is complete, I am very happy and pleasantly surprised with the interest and the responses to the comic, it is a story close to my heart and I am happy that everyone enjoyed it. I had the idea for a few months before I began on it.

I am taking December off from working on the comic to do some commission work, and will start on part 2 of the comic in January.

----------

As for Comissions, the pricing is here at mysticfox.com/comissions/

To summarize, single character sketches are $5, soft shading is $24 for a single character. No adult Comissions! No 'taur characters! No pokemon characters!

This was just something I was thinking about the other day, I feel the key to being a great photographer lies in three things:

1) Skill as a photographer

How to compose your photos, where to stand, knowing the limits and capabilities of your camera and being able to use that knowledge to its fullest.

2) The camera itself

A dSLR camera is preferable, but its not the end all solution for everyone, a big zoom point and shoot and a fancier pocket point n shoot camera will work well as well, but remember a camera can have all the capability in the world, if you dont know how to use it, you aren't going to get anything good out of it.

3) Post Processing

This is where good photos turn great, where you adjust the levels and color balance and sharpness to tweak your photo and make it really stand out. Photoshop is the most common one, but there are others out there that do the job as well and are slightly simpler to use.

Master all three and your photos will delight and amaze all that lay eyes on them :la:

Today was quite an adventure. I was setting out to get a new tarot card deck, I knew I had a big gap between my morning class, math and my afternoon class, speech because my science class was canceled today. I left early this morning to check an alternative/new age store near me, they had the deck I wanted, the standard rider-waite deck but they only had the Spanish version, so I head to class from there. I get to class and i find math is canceled. So I head straight for lunch after that and grab a nummy turkey BLT sammich from Toasty's. Afterwards I plot which store to go to, there's two in the area, one is more new agey, the other is more shamanistic. The Shaman/Native American store I called in advanced, they didn't have it but they'll get it in on Monday. The other store I called and kept getting a wierd recording which said they were open today, so I get on the parkway to go down there, but first I go to take in some cans n bottles to the machine at the supermarket, I got 6 bucks from that. On the parkway I see some ghetto kids walking along the shoulder, don't they know that its a highway and its dangerous, ah well, they probably were skipping school anyway hehe. The other store is in this congested town in the southwest part of the county, took me a lil while to find parking, but when I get there i realise they closed for Veterans day so im like damnit, so I figured, its near the LIRR station, lemme grab some timetables for that branch in case I need to ride it, so then I drove back to university and I lucked out and there was no traffic, usually theres problems in the afternoon. I made it to my speech class on time, that was still on and that was my adventure for today.

This past weekend has been very busy for me, I was at work then I had to go to the airport saturday then sunday i had to come in to work on my day off and i had like no time for artwork, even monday was busy. Today was the first day I could take it easy and do some artwork. Ursine week ended with only one sktech because nobody had a female bear character.

Also im now on twitter at twitter.com/lilbluefoxie feel free to watch me and reply to my posts and such.

This weekend ill get to page 3 of the comic, its not just about gender transformation, that's only part of the story, there's some interesting parts to it as the story unfolds, and im really happy that people like it as it really is more of a personal story to me, its something I had in my head for a lil while, the theme of it has some personal significance.

also, Mac Tonite (that moon man from McDonalds) looks like Jay Leno lol

First half I was flying over the ocean, I notice two bouys in the water. Then Im on this platform thing in the middle of the ocean, its very dark out. I push back from theplat form and I am skitting along, on top of the water like a dolphin. Next thing I remember I am floating along the water and then im in my room all bloated up and floating up around my room, I grab my crotch and next thing I gently glide down to my bed and wake up.

This is a question for the serious photographers, (no phone cams or the cheezy ass point n shoots with no viewfinder, im talking people with real dSLRs here that know what they doing)

Anyone have any tips for using the EF 50mm f/1.8 lens? (or whatever the Nikkon and Sony equivilent is at 50mm) I have one but im kinda worried to use it since im worried ill miss out on something that I coulda got with my EF-S 18-55 f/3.5-5.0 IS lens. Is there a steep learning curve on how to work with a prime lens vs a zoom lens, and is their any advantage to using the 50mm prime lense over my kit lens.

My primary photography subjects outside of vacation stuffs is Rail/Subway photography and Flowers with DOF and Macro shots.

Im considering getting the 28mm f/2.8 if I get better with the 50mm.

Today was my last final exam, and now im officially done with the spring semester. Time for summer vacation. As usual when I have more free time, I can spend more of my time drawing and improving my art. I have a few special surprises and things planned. Things I wanted to practice on but I just didnt have time.

The comic I am nearly finished with, I have drawn out the last few pages and over the next couple of days ill get that completed. I am glad everyone has enjoyed it so far, it was a fun idea to do.

Many of my bestest buddies have been doing some great pictures, you guys are the ones that inspire me to continue to improve my work and help me master new skills and techniques. I dont need to name drop, you guys know who you are ;) Keep up the great work!

In addition to more comissions, im gunna set aside time for art trades and open canvas stuff, I gotta learn how to use that program better. Im pretty selective on who I trade and draw with, if you are some random person looking for freebies dont bother.

Work is going well, since its summertime, my hours go up, but even better I got my annual raise. It's always nice to have some extra spending cash and I might spend some money comissioning other people.

I should make some new reference sheets of my characters... Thats another one for the todo list hehe.

It frustrates me how little some people really know about gender. While many people realise that its more than just two options male or female, there is many variations, femboys, tomboys, butch girls, etc. What some people dont get is that gender is seperate from sexual orientation. Just because a guy acts feminine doesnt mean hes gay nor does a manly girl mean shes a lesbian. While for a majority of the population, thing work out that guys act manly and like girls and girls act girly and like guys, for the other half theres variations. There are others out there regardless of physical body have characteristics of both genders who feel they are in the middle.

Sometimes there are people whos gender in their mind doesnt match the one of their physical body. And that adds a whole nother layer of combinations and variations. There are people out there, who may be a femboy but with a female body or a tomboy with a male body. It doesnt mean they are any less uncomfortable with the situation, a femboy doesnt always imply a male who wants to be female for example. I feel that just because someones not totally to the one end of the gender spectrum thats opposite to their body that they shouldnt be written off, that they should be taken seriously too.

Dont assume you know someone, you know what they want, what their dreams and hopes and fears are, unless you spent a few days in their body, in their mind, in their soul. Dont write them off as crazy, as just needing some ass or some cock, dont cast them aside as hopeless and strike them when they are most vulerable, when they open their heart and soul to you. Wake up every day and thank god or whomever you worship that you dont have these problems.

Nobody choses to be like this, none of this is a lifestyle choice. This is not a call for attention or any of the other things people say to write someone off who has problems. I hope for a day when people who have variations in their gender and sexual identity dont have to live their lives in hiding, where they can seek the help they need quickly and not have to live in fear of being cut off from their freinds and families who just dont understand. Who lose precious time in their lives to go out and be happy since the world is pulling them down.

I hope for a day that people shouldnt have to be hurt for being who they are.

Here's an update of whats going on round here.

Monies have been working out better, Ive been taking a lot of steps to stretch my budget further, as well as I am thankful of the people who commissioned me this month. You helped keep the wheels turning here. Summers almost here and then I have more hours at work.

Which leads to the big thing that's stressing me out, school. I am doing good in 3 out of my 4 classes this semester, the fourth I'm scrambling to at least pass. I'm still confident I can do it but it does worry me. I'm going to a review session Monday for that class.

Artwork is doing well, I am making advances in new subjects and themes, things I was wary about exploring in years past. I still have other things I am working on, namely facial expressions and hands. I wanna give a special shoutout to my best buddy :iconlesang: for teaching me a lot of things and helping me improve my art, and my other good buddy :iconblackfox85: for helping me with the faces. <3

I feel good overall despite being a bit stressed out, I took a nice long car ride earlier today, to nowhere in particular. My car is like my mobile sancutary, I turn the heat or the A/C up just right, put off the music and its like I enter the zone. I got a nice weekend to relax, get some nice pix done, adn then Monday ill be ready for school to take on the challenges.

I got another fun comic coming this month as well so keep on truckin everyone <3
